Kenneth F. Dow of Hampton Bays and Greenlawn died on January 3, 2018, in Princeton, New Jersey. He was 89.
Mr. Dow was born and raised in Brooklyn, a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and received a chemical engineering degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Preceding college he served in the U.S. Navy as a catapult and arresting gear technician. He enjoyed a professional career with several engineering companies prior to employment at Grumman Aerospace Corp., where he spent over 30 years in engineering, sales and management positions in the aircraft, space and commercial sectors, including more than 10 years in manufacturing management on the Lunar Module program.
Upon retirement in 1990, he moved to Hampton Bays and held membership in the Southampton Elks, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. His retirement years were dedicated to volunteering time toward charitable ventures.
Mr. Dow is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eileen; and his children, Michael (Nina), Kenneth (Catherine), Thomas (Mae), David (Colette) and Susan Connolly (Peter); and eight grandchildren, Jacqueline, Thomas, Emily, Melissa, Charlotte, Abigail, Grace and Harrison.
A funeral Mass took place on January 8 at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays, followed by burial at Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Connell Rothwell Funeral Home in Southampton.
