Seal Viewing Hikes Planned in Montauk

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is offering a series of hikes to observe wintering seals at Montauk Point State Park. Beginning this month and continuing through April 2025, a State Park naturalist will lead visitors on a scenic beach walk to an area where up to five species of seals may be observed. Along the hike, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. Binoculars are helpful. The Bonac Festival of Lights will return for the 2024 holiday season. Hosted by the East Hampton Masonic Lodge, Star of the East No. 843, the show will be on display starting Friday, November 29, at East Hampton High School, 2 Long Lane. The walk-through display, now in its fourth year, features over 70 holiday-themed light displays. The Southampton Youth Bureau and Southampton Youth Services will be teaming up to host their annual Extreme Rec Day on Monday, November 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sign-in at 9:45 a.m. at Southampton Youth Services, 1370A Majors Path.
