An early morning one car accident on Majors Path led to a brief fire before being put out by the North Sea Fire Department.
According to Southampton Town Police, at about 1:52 a.m. the vehicle swerved off the road and into the woods in front of 1536 Majors Path. Police said no injuries were reported and no one was taken into custody, but said the accident is still under investigation.
Assistant Fire Chief Paul Delzato was first on the scene within 10 minutes of the fire being reported, and confirmed the vehicle fire. Mr. Delzato relayed that there were no occupants trapped inside, but that the vehicle was close to a home and a landscape trailer.
The Southampton Volunteer Ambulance and a town highway sanding truck also responded to the scene, which was cleared by 3:15 a.m.
