The forecast is good for Sunday, September 29, when the East Hampton Town Trustees will hold their 33rd annual Largest Clam Contest. The contest did not happen last year. Inclement weather led to a two-week postponement, and in the week preceding the rescheduled date, heavy rains forced closure of most local waterways to the harvesting of shellfish, leaving the Trustees no choice but to cancel. This year, for the first time, the event, from noon to 3 p.m., will be held at the Amagansett Life-Saving and Coast Guard Station Museum, near the end of Atlantic Avenue and around the corner ...
