Poetry Contest Seeks Entries

Submissions are now being accepted for the fourth annual Bliss Morehead Poetry Grant. The $1,000 grant is awarded each April to the competition winner. Applicants must be unpublished poets aged 17 or older and reside on the East End of Long Island (Riverhead and points east). Bliss Morehead was a resident of Shelter Island who dedicated much of her life to the art of poetry. Seventh Annual Messiah Sing on Shelter Island This Sunday

The Shelter Island Community Chorus will host its seventh annual Handel’s Messiah Sing, on Sunday, January 12, at 3 p.m. at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church, 32 N. Ferry Road (Route 114), Shelter Island. The annual Messiah Sing honors the late Jack Monaghan, who founded the tradition, held each January on the first Sunday after Epiphany. The seventh annual Messiah Sing will include 11 choruses and a number of solos, led by Suzanne Nicoletti, and accompanied by Paolo Bertolani. Choral Society Opens Auditions for Next Concert
