When we recently revealed the sale of Harvey Weinstein’s Amagansett house, we included that it has “one of the best screening rooms in the Hamptons.” But the disgraced Mr. Weinstein did not have the biggest.
That honor goes to the Goose Creek estate in Wainscott, which, via Corcoran, has just gone on the market with an ask of $15,995,000.
Officially, the manse is 30 Wainscott Stone Highway, but because of the body of water adjacent to it, Goose Creek is the name. We’re told that it “has the largest private movie theater in the Hamptons—110 seats! The theater has hosted celebrity-studded affairs over the years, including the premiere of Jake Gyllenhaal’s ‘End of Watch,’ with guests including Gwyneth Paltrow and Jerry Seinfeld.”
The 19,000-square-foot home has 8 bedrooms and 11.5 bathrooms. The dwelling is on 5.5 acres off Georgica Pond, with a tennis court and a heated pool. Whether or not they are movie-lovers, Goose Creek has played host to a number of top celebrities, including Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Warren Beatty, Kevin Costner, and Madonna, all of whom rented it during summer months, though presumably not during the same season. Geena Davis had a birthday bash there, and it is reported that many years ago Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley rented out the theater for their daughter’s birthday party.
The property sold in 2014 to the current owners for $10.55 million, who completed upgrades and other renovations. One of the former owners of Goose Creek was Bryan Bantry, an agent for models, photographers, and makeup artists.
