Following its opening-round playoff loss at Half Hollow Hills West, the Hampton Bays boys soccer team said goodbye to a dozen departing seniors, all of whom helped more than double the team’s win total from the previous year and ending a short postseason appearance drought. A part of that group was Charlie Garcia, who finished fourth in the county in four less games played than many of his counterparts. Tracey Carey said she’s looking forward to seeing what the Hampton Bays girls tennis team can do this season with a 22-person roster and a mix of old and new talent. “These girls are a great group, and they are committed to working hard together and improving,” she said. Leading the Baymen will be senior Meghan Peterson and junior Melody Arabejo, both of whom are three-year varsity players who will be competing in the top singles slots.
