Southampton Fresh Air Home will have its 30th annual Decorators-Designers-Dealers Sale and Auction on Saturday, June 4.

Southampton Fresh Air Home is a Southampton-based summer camp for children with special needs that has been serving the community since 1901.

“It’s been around for a long time,” said Design and Decoration Co-Chair Ann Yawney.

This year’s event is the first back-to-normal auction since the pandemic began. In the last two years, SFAH ran the event in modified ways to ensure the safety of volunteers and shoppers.

The annual D-D-D event aims to raise money to run and maintain the camp through ticket sales, the silent auction and the sale. In addition to running the camp, the money raised also goes to providing financial assistance for campers who cannot afford to attend.

“We were happy to be back last year,” said Thomas Naro, the executive director of the camp. “People were still separated because we had four, two-hour shopping intervals,” he added.

Naro explained that the D-D-D event has always been one of the first events of summer in the Hamptons, allowing for shoppers to mingle and reunite with friends.

This year the sale features designer furniture, Tiffany china, and crystal from Waterford and Baccarat. The event also features a silent auction with experiences, jewelry, vintage clothing and wine from France, Italy and California available.

All of the items for sale have come from community donations made throughout the year after camp ends. A team of board members, camp staff and volunteers spends the month of May organizing the donations.

“The furniture comes in starting in September, October once camps stops,” said Design and Decoration Chair Ann Grimm. “Then we just keep looking at what is coming in and try to establish some sort of looks.”

The event transforms the camp, as the rooms are staged with donated furniture, silverware, plates and other housewares. The dormitories, which will house children in just a few weeks, are transformed into staged and themed cottages.

The schoolhouse has also been staged to feature a cohesive look styled by Barbara Glatt. Grimm described the room as “light, airy and luxurious.”

Originally, Southampton Fresh Air Home ran a rummage sale at Southampton High School on a Thursday afternoon in August. As both camp and the event grew, it was decided to create an event inspired by a designer show house.

Any items not sold on the day of the event will be available during a tag sale on June 5, and proceeds will also go to benefit Southampton Fresh Air Home. No ticket is required for the tag sale.

“It’s a great way to support,” Naro said.

To purchase tickets to the Decorators-Designers-Dealers Sale and Auction at 36 Barkers Island Road, Southampton, on Saturday, June 4, go to sfah.org.
