A three-car crash on Country Road 39 in the Tuckahoe section of Southampton Monday morning, October 4, sent four people to the hospital, some with serious injuries, and closed the road for more than an hour.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Southampton Town Police received several emergency calls regarding a serious crash. Patrol units were dispatched immediately, as were first responders from Southampton Volunteer Fire Department and Southampton Ambulance, along with Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance and Southampton Village Ambulance.

Upon arrival, patrol officers found three vehicles involved in the crash, a 2019 Ford van, a 2007 Subaru, and a parked 2009 Honda. The driver of the van, a 34-year-old man from Shirley and his passenger, a 35-year-old man from Flanders, were traveling east on CR 39 when the driver of the Subaru, a 58-year-old woman from Delmar, New York, and her 60-year-old male passenger, entered the roadway from a driveway attempting to go west.

The van hit the Subaru, then rotated and continued east, striking the Subaru a second time. The van continued off the road and into the parked Honda.

Three of the victims were transported to a local hospital, and the fourth victim, the passenger in the Subaru, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed from around 11 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.

The Southampton Town Police Detective Division is continuing the investigation, and anyone with information or who witnessed the crash is asked to call detectives at 631-702-2230.
