Hampton Bays Elementary School second grade students in Liz Scott's and Krista Savino's class recently learned about Election Day and what it means to vote. The students were given ballots to cast a vote on their favorite school activity. They learned that voting can be anonymous, and they don't need to share their answers. The Southampton High School senior Joseph Lucas, a tenor in the school's choir had the opportunity to sing with Suffolk County's best vocal jazz students in the All-County Vocal Jazz Ensemble on November 4. Westhampton Beach Elementary School paid tribute to local veterans on November 9, during which students learned about the history of
Veterans Day, met 14 local veterans from all branches of the military and heard from guest
speaker Sr. Master Sgt. Jonathan Mazura. To culminate the ceremony, students sang “Proud
of Our Veterans.” Additionally, in honoring local veterans for Veterans Day, Westhampton Beach High School students in U.S. history classes met with and heard from members of the VFW Post 5350.
