The Hamptons Festival of Music (TH·FM) will present its “Music Takes Flight! Italian Opera Through the Ages — Tour of the Hamptons,” a journey through the rich history of Italian opera, as part of its ongoing commitment to community outreach. This series of three concerts will take place at various community churches and educational outlets across the East End from Thursday, May 30, to Sunday, June 2.

“We are thrilled to bring the passion and drama of Italian opera to the East End community,” says Michael Yip, Executive Director of TH·FM. “This tour is a wonderful opportunity for music lovers of all ages to experience the power and beauty of this beloved art form while also making it accessible through affordable ticket prices and educational outreach programs.”

The “Music Takes Flight! Italian Opera Through the Ages” tour will showcase renowned soprano Greer Lyle singing arias from Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro,” Verdi’s “La traviata,” Puccini’s “La Bohème,” and more, with the festival’s associate conductor Logan Souther leading TH·FM’s Salon Orchestra, which includes members of The New American Sinfonietta and top musicians from major ensembles and festivals across the Northeast.

Audiences will also receive insightful commentary from the players to gain a deeper understanding of the music and its historical context. In addition to the community church performances, the tour will include visits to local schools and educational outlets, including East Hampton High School, Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, Project Most, and Springs School, further enriching the cultural landscape of the Hamptons.

“This tour brings the magic of music to everyone,” Souther says. “From church pews to classrooms, fostering a love for the arts in our vibrant East End community, and we invite everyone to join TH·FM on a journey through Italian opera’s greatest hits. Affordable tickets and school performances make this a community event you won’t want to miss.”

The first public concert on Friday, May 31, at 7 p.m. will take place at Springs Community Presbyterian Church, 5 Old Stone Highway, East Hampton; the second concert is Saturday, June 1, at 5 p.m. at Montauk Community Church, 850 Montauk Highway, Montauk; the final concert is Sunday, June 2, at 5 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Hoie Hall, 18 James Lane, East Hampton Village.

Tickets for the “Music Takes Flight! Italian Opera Through the Ages” tour are $25 at thehamptonsfestivalofmusic.com/tohtickets.

The third TH·FM full orchestra concerts, featuring The New American Sinfonietta under the baton of renowned conductor Maestro Michael Palmer, will take place at LTV Studios in Wainscott on September 6, 10 and 14.
