The East Quogue School District community’s compassion and support flourished, having raised $29,000 for Relay for Life, $5,000 more than the community’s fundraising goal. The Eastern Suffolk BOCES cosmetology student earned the award under the advisement of her teacher, Hadley Beckman. The judges were local industry leaders. Westhampton Beach High School students Brett Geller, hornist, and Ava Kuklis, clarinetist, recently attended the second annual Hofstra Honor Band Day at Hofstra University. They were among 84 students representing 36 school districts on Long Island who had the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Hofstra Symphonic Band and its director, David Soto. Additionally, they attended instrument-specific master classes and participated in a Q&A session with the Hofstra band members and Hofstra admissions.
