Sag Harbor Village Police Reports for the Week of July 4

SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Police are assisting in the investigation of the whereabouts of a painting valued at $500,000. The painting was turned over to a major local gallery with several locations, including Sag Harbor, in 2023. The gallery owner told police that the painting had been shipped to Florida, where a prospective buyer was ready to purchase it, but that then the buyer backed out of the deal. The gallery owner promised to retrieve the painting and return it to its rightful owner within a week. Police are classifying this matter as an ongoing investigation.
