Continuing a holiday tradition in Quogue, the Hampton Theatre Company will once again offer a three-day presentation of “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” on the stage of the Quogue Community Hall for one weekend only, December 13 to 15.

Adapted from the timeless novel by Charles Dickens by playwright Joe Landry, with music by Kevin Connors, this family-friendly version runs approximately 45 to 60 minutes. The play recreates for live audiences the convivial energy of a 1940s-era radio troupe, complete with music and sound effects generated onstage and in the booth. A sing-along with the troupe will complete the celebration.

Actors from the HTC family of players — including Andrew Botsford, Rosemary Cline, Matthew Conlon, Terrance Fiore, Amanda Griemsmann, George A. Loizides, Catherine Maloney and Roger Moley — will each take on multiple roles in period costumes on a set depicting the studio of the fictional WBFR radio station in 1940s New York City.

Presented as a Christmas Eve installment of WBFR’s weekly “Playhouse of the Air” series, “A Christmas Carol” serves up the timeless story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the inveterate miser from London who learns the meaning of charity and kindness over the course of one miraculous Christmas Eve, complete with visitations by three Ghosts of Christmas (Past, Present and Future), a heartwarming reconciliation with his nephew Fred and, of course, a surprise gift and visit to the Cratchits, where he’s welcomed by his longtime clerk Bob and his resilient and irrepressible son, the one and only Tiny Tim.

The production is directed by Andrew Botsford with lighting by Sebastian Paczynski and costumes by Teresa Lebrun.

This year’s encore of “A Christmas Carol: A Radio Play” follows in the footsteps of earlier holiday radio plays presented by the HTC in Quogue over the years, with other adaptations ranging from “Miracle on 34th Street” to “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

“A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” will be performed at the Quogue Community Hall, 125 Jessup Avenue in Quogue, on Friday, December 13, at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 14, at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 15, also at 2:30 p.m. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies served before the show.

HTC’s landmark 40th season will continue in 2025 with two more full-length stage productions — Mark Camoletti’s boisterous comedy “Boeing Boeing” (running March 13 to 30) and Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” (running May 22 to June 8), which will mark Andrew Botsford and Rosemary Cline’s 40th season with the company.

Tickets for “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” are $18 at hamptontheatre.org or by calling 631-653-8955.
