On Friday, October 28, from 4 to 5 p.m., award-winning author Katharine Holabird will be the featured reader for The Church’s Children’s Spooky Story Hour. Author of the widely popular children’s book series Angelina Ballerina, Holabird will read “Angelina’s Halloween.” As Holabird reads, a trained ballerina from the Hamptons Ballet Theatre School will perform a dance choreographed to the book’s storyline.

The live performance aspect of the reading will not only be a whimsical addition but more importantly makes this event appropriate for children of all reading levels, languages, learning abilities and those who may be hard of hearing. Festive Halloween treats and warm apple cider will be provided.

In addition to the Angelina Ballerina books, Holabird is the author of a new series about a magical fairy called Twinkle.

She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Bennington College in Vermont. She lived in London for many years, where she met the illustrator Helen Craig and wrote the first Angelina Ballerina book with her two daughters dancing around her. Since then, Katharine has written more than 40 books about Angelina, and the dancing mouse has starred in animation, a children’s ballet, and a theater production. Holabird divides her time between NYC and Water Mill.

Tickets are $15 at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is at 48 Madison Street, Sag Harbor.
