On Thursday, June 24, singer Juliet Garrett will perform “Songs for a Summer Night,” and is bringing her band of world class musicians to Guild Hall for an evening of music under the full moon in the intimate John Drew Backyard Theater.
Raised on Shelter Island by composer father Bruce Wolosoff and visual artist mother Margaret Garrett, Garrett’s music is profoundly influenced by her childhood on the East End. Her most recent music video, “Follow the River,” directed by Margaret Garrett and filmed on Shelter Island, reads as a love letter to the beauty of the East End and the power of the water to bring her right back home.
Garrett has performed across Europe, from London to Berlin, Amsterdam to Malmo, and has remained active during the pandemic, performing livestreams and virtual festivals in support of her favorite venues, from the Green Note in London to Rockwood Music Hall in New York, as well as appearing on tastemaker Annie O’s music series.
Her last EP, “Corners of Pretend,” was recorded at AIR studios and Snap studios in London and was released in March 2021. She is currently at work on her next collection of songs at the Honeyjar in Brooklyn.
“Songs for a Summer Night” with Juliet Garrett features Ross Bellenoit on guitar and Chuck Staab on drums. The show is Thursday, June 24, at 8 p.m. at Guild Hall, 158 Main Street, East Hampton. Tickets are $30 at guildhall.org.
