The Depot Art Gallery in Montauk will present the work of three beloved Montauk artists, Joel Casserly, Maura Ann Donohue and E. Smyth McCarron, in an exhibition running September 26 to October 7. The show opens with a reception on Saturday, September 28, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Joel Casserly was a commercial fishing captain of the F/V Deliverance and the F/V Restless for 30 years. He has a master’s degree in art from Long Island University’s C.W. Post and majored in printing and printmaking. He uses “found objects” selected for their flat printable surface. Then, using pigments and painterly techniques they are arranged to create a finished work on canvas. Truly unique.

Maura Ann Donohue moved to Montauk year-round in 1981 after summering there as a kid. She started working in restaurants and a few years later, saw an ad in the paper for pottery lessons and got hooked. She finally hung up her apron after 26 years waitressing at The Dock and now concentrates on her pottery creations.

E. Smyth McCarron is a pastel artist who is inspired by the beauty of nature. Born in Montauk she began her art studies at Pratt Institute. She enjoys teaching art and is currently working toward her MFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design.

The Depot Art Gallery is open Thursdays to Mondays, noon to 5 p.m. and is located at the Montauk train station at Flamingo Avenue and South Edgemere Street. For details call 631-668-8052 or visit montaukartistsassociation.org.
