On Sunday, June 9 at noon, The Watermill Center presents the next in its Artists’ Table brunch series. The event will pair a farm-to-table meal prepared by Jason Weiner, executive chef and proprietor of Almond restaurant and L&W Market in Bridgehampton, with a presentation by two artists, Cleek Schrey, a fiddler and composer from Virginia now based in New York City, and Afua Ansong, a Ghanaian American writer and artist who teaches contemporary and traditional West African dance.
Mr. Schrey collaborates with musicians from a wide spectrum of scenes and styles. Frequent collaborators include David Behrman, the viol da gamba player Liam Byrne, traditional fiddle icon Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, and the New Perplexity collective of composer-performers. Ms. Ansong recently completed her MFA in Creative Writing and Literature at Stony Brook University. Her work interrogates the challenges of the African immigrant in the United States, exploring themes of transition, citizenship, and blackness.
Tickets for the Artists’ Table brunch are $100 and available via The Watermill Center’s website, watermillcenter.org/events. The Watermill Center is located at 39 Watermill Towd Road, Water Mill.
