ArtSprings Studio, a working artist studio and gallery in Springs, will celebrate its grand opening and first exhibition, “Landscape into Abstraction,” with a private opening reception on Saturday, May 28, from 5 to 7 p.m.
ArtSprings Studio is the art space of teaching artist Barbara Thomas, who has been making art on the East End for more than 40 years. “Landscape into Abstraction” will present the work of Thomas and will run through June 26. This exhibition is a showcase to establish ArtSprings Studio as a unique art center, continuing the history of the artist community in the Springs region of East Hampton.
ArtSprings Studio is a working artist studio open to visitors to see the creative process in action. This newly envisioned space is host to interactive art events and projects, surprise art happenings, and classes lead by Thomas, a teaching artist with over 20 year’s experience in leading arts institutions. ArtSprings Studio is also a gallery space featuring the work of international artists — emerging and established. She has been an active teacher of art making at the Parrish Art Museum.
