The final production in Bay Street Theater’s 2018 Mainstage Season is officially casted.
“Evita,” the revival of a revolutionary musical that chronicles Eva Perón and her ascent to the top as First Lady of Argentina, will be led by Arianna Rosario as the iconic title character, acting opposite her stage husband, Omar Lopez-Cepero as Perón — though he happens to be her fiancé, too! — and Trent Saunders as Che.
Additional cast includes Kyle Barisich as Magaldi and Gabi Campo as The Mistress. Ensemble members are Julian Alvarez, Edgar Cavazos, Lauren Csete, Elisa Galindez, Iliana Garcia, Juan Guillen, Jose Ozuna, Dakota Quackenbush and Carolina Santos Read.
Bay Street Theater’s Associate Artistic Director Will Pomerantz will direct the musical — with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, including “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” and “High Flying, Adored” — and Marcos Santana will choreograph.
“Ever since joining Bay Street as artistic director, I have dreamt of bringing the brilliant musical ‘Evita’ to our stage. So the summer of 2018 is truly a dream come true for me,” Bay Street Theater Artistic Director Scott Schwartz said in a press release. “In Will Pomerantz and Marcos Santana’s dance-filled, visionary new production, the audience will be transported to a gritty Argentinean tango club where they will get closer to the iconic characters and beloved score than ever before. With a dazzling cast and first class design team, I know Evita will be a thrilling theatrical event unlike any we’ve presented before.”
Other members of the creative team include music supervisor Aaron Jodoin, set designer Anna Louizos, lighting designer Mike Billings, costume designer Lindsay Davis, sound designer Jon Weston, prop designer Andrew Diaz, production stage manager Robert Bennett, assistant stage manager Denise Yaney, and casting by Stewart/Whitley.
The musical will run from July 31 through August 26. For more information, please call (631) 725-9500 or visit baystreet.org.
