Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center will present its large-scale gala, “Beachstock,” on Friday, August 13, outdoors on the Great Lawn of Westhampton Beach.

The event will feature New York City-based rock band Square Feeet playing its show “Say Goodbye to the ’70s … and Hello to the ’90s” — which is sure to get attendees up on their feet and dancing.

Patrons can purchase pods on the lawn, which accommodate up to four people, and will be fully styled and set up as a luxe al fresco experience. Based on choice of pod, each will be stylishly outfitted as guests dine on a picnic dinner, packed in individual picnic baskets, from Hamptons Aristocrat. A-level pods feature a posh bamboo dining settee, B-level pods will be furnished with rustic, whitewashed Adirondack chairs, and C-level pods will have a thick and cozy picnic blanket for a magical night under the stars. Patrons will have their choice of dinners, including lobster, carne asada tacos, fried chicken, vegan options, and a number of sides.

Square Feeet is a classic rock, R&B, and pop cover band formed in 1999 by Jimmy Kuhn and guitarist David Katzman. In 2015, Kuhn added drummer Dorsey Parker, along with guitarists Apoena Frota and Andre Vansconcelos, who had all previously played together as part of Jefferson Starship’s backing band. Guitarist Vinny Silva and lead singer Pam Steebler round out the lineup and add texture to their impressive live performances.

This year, the band will head from the 1970s to the ’90s with a roster of the biggest hits of each decade, from Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles to Counting Crows and Alanis Morissette. As a fixture of the tri-state music scene, Square Feeet has played at The Cutting Room, Village Underground, Sands Casino, Meadowlands Racetrack, and more. During its last tour in 2019 before the pandemic, the band played Tioga Downs, Turning Stone Resort and Bethworks, to name a few. In November, Kuhn released his self-penned anthem to the pandemic, “Morning in America,” sung by Steebler and produced by Ghidrah Music.

The rest of weekend will be rounded out by two more rocking concerts: On August 14, Max Weinberg’s Jukebox will delight music-lovers with its interactive “jukebox” experience — Max and company take on-demand song requests so the audience controls the setlist. And on August 15, 1960s rockers Jefferson Starship, one of the quintessential Haight/Ashbury acts, sings the tunes that defined a generation and spanned decades with hits “White Rabbit,” “Volunteers” and “Somebody to Love.”

Patrons who support the theater by coming to Beachstock on Friday will have pre-sale access to concert tickets for the rest of the weekend — and a complete weekend pass is available for patrons who would like to attend all three nights. Beachstock will raise much-needed funds for WHBPAC, which has been closed for concerts since March 2020 as a result of COVID-19

“This is a weekend all about supporting the live performing arts — but also about remembering what it’s like to experience it,” says WHBPAC Executive Director Julienne Penza-Boone. “We’re so excited to have patrons be able to enjoy live concerts, out of their cars. While we move back toward normalcy, this is a great way for people to feel safe — eating, dancing, and singing along under the stars in the great revitalized Village of Westhampton Beach.”

More shows to be announced soon, and the theater has a slate of shows planned for indoors in the fall including Broadway star Laura Benanti, magician Justin Willman, John Hiatt, Los Lobos, and more.

Pods for the Beachstock gala with Square Feeet are $800 to $1,500 (accommodates four people). August at the Great Lawn packages available include a Complete Package ($2,500 plus fees) which comes with an A-level pod and dinner for Beachstock, plus four additional tickets to Max Weinberg’s Jukebox and Jefferson Starship. Tickets and other packages are available at whbpac.org or 631-288-1500. For COVID-19 safety guidelines, testing protocols, ticketing procedures and other information visit the website.
