Due to circumstances beyond Suffolk Theater’s control, The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra performance scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2022 has been rescheduled to a new date that is to be determined.

On Friday, July 8, at 8 p.m. Suffolk Theater presents The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra (GCO), an award-winning 17 piece big band specializing in the music of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.

GCO performs vintage American Jazz, which is a catch-all term that consists of a range of styles of jazz that come from prior to World War II. The earliest jazz came from New Orleans around the turn of the 20th Century. This gradually morphed into the “hot jazz” style played by the dance orchestras (early big bands) and combos of the 1920s. This is the music that people associate with prohibition, speakeasies, gangsters, the Jazz Age, and The Great Gatsby.

The big band’s repertoire includes the music of artists like Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Jean Goldkette, Cole Porter, Bing Crosby, Harry James, Fletcher Henderson, Ella Fitzgerald, Fats Waller, George Gershwin, Billie Holiday, and many more. The GCO brings to life the music of this bygone age with stunning authenticity and in 2017 was named “Best Group in New York” by the NYC Jazz Awards. The band is an elite aggregation of some of the world’s most prominent vintage-jazz specialists.

Glenn Crytzer is a New York City based bandleader, arranger, composer, guitarist, and vocalist who is in love with the music of the Jazz Age and Swing Era. While completing his formal training in classical composition and cello at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Florida State University, Glenn decided to put his musical training to use, taught himself guitar, banjo, and jazz arranging, and set about bringing to life the music he loved. He has become a staple in New York City’s jazz scene as a guitarist and bandleader.

Tickets for the show are $45 to $65 at SuffolkTheater.com. The Suffolk is at 118 East Main Street, Riverhead.
