Take flight with the Southampton African American Museum and the Eastville Community Historical Society as they honor the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, and bring it to life, in “Black Angels Over Tuskegee.” Direct from the Actors Temple Theater off Broadway, the play will stage on Thursday, August 16, at 7 p.m. at Guild Hall, located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton.
“‘Black Angels Over Tuskegee’ enlightens and educates audiences,” according to a press release. “The narrative depicts the lives of six men who struggle through the Jim Crow era and emerge with distinction as the first African-American pilots in the US Army Air Forces. With courageous brotherhood, their intelligence, patriotism and strength propel a dream into flight while fighting both military and social wars. The captivating all-male cast delivers a powerful performance that will entertain, inspire, and inform as audiences discover the story that provoked a monumental change in American history.”
Admission is $35, or $25 for seniors and children. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a VIP cocktail party, honoring local Tuskegee Airmen, featuring music by flutist Dwayne Kerr. Tickets are $50. For more information, visit guildhall.org.
