Calling all music lovers with a curious spirit! East End Jazz presents “Curious About Jazz,” an interactive experience at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, at Hampton Library in Bridgehampton featuring a talented jazz quartet led by vocalist Olivia Foschi and bassist Iris Ornig. In this free event, participants are encouraged to immerse themselves in the timeless beauty of songs from the Great American Songbook as they prepare themselves to actively participate in a specially designed workshop to spark musical curiosity and unlock their inner improvisational spirit.

No prior musical experience is necessary. This workshop is designed to be welcoming and accessible to everyone, regardless of musical background. Under the guidance of Foschi and Ornig, the session will be a journey through the fundamentals of jazz, exploring the soulful art of singing the blues, the world of trading and improvisation techniques, and the expressive power of improvisation itself.

As the workshop progresses, participants will have the chance to put newfound skills to the test in a thrilling call and response experience with a four piece jazz band. Interact directly with the musicians, feel the joy of making music together as a community and celebrate the rich musical heritage that jazz represents.

The session is free. Hampton Library is at 2478 Main Street in Bridgehampton.
