The 13th Annual Art Groove comes to Ashawagh Hall in Springs on April 19 and 20. The small works art show offers pieces for sale. It benefits The Ellen Hermanson foundation, Maureen’s Haven and Annie Appleseed Project.
A vibrant merging of music, visual art and dancing, the event showcases the artwork of 18 contemporary artists, including world-renowned artist/sculptor Hans Van de Bovenkamp who will display his multi-patinated bronze sculptures.
The exhibition begins at noon on Saturday, April 19, with a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Performing at 7 p.m. will be “The King Bees,” a rhythm and blues trio featuring Grammy-winner Frank Latorre. A dance party featuring DJ G-Funk’s hot dance mix begins at 8 p.m.
On Sunday, April 20, the show will be on view from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features the musical stylings of William Falkenberg from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, followed by a book signing by Hans Van de Bovenkamp from 1 to 2 p.m. A video presentation “In His Own Words,” produced by John Jinks, will be shown from 2 to 3 p.m. The video tells the story of Hans Van de Bovenkamp’s creative process involved in constructing a monolithic sculpture.
