The makers of Dutch-language film “The Misfortunates” took home the Golden Starfish Award for Best Narrative Feature on Sunday at the Hamptons International Film Festival.

The film, which had its United States premiere during the festival, was co-written by Christophe Dirickx and director Felix van Groeningen, who also earned the Zicherman Foundation Award for Best Screenplay. Ruben Impens won the Kodak Award for Best Cinematography for his work on the film.

“Long Distance Love,” set in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, and Moscow, Russia, was awarded a Golden Starfish for Best Documentary. The film, about a married couple of 18-year-olds with a baby on the way, was directed by Magnus Gertten and Elin Jonsson.

Jung Yumi’s 10-minute narrative film, “Dust Kid,” done in pencil animation, won the Golden Starfish Award for Best Short.

Other winners include: Best Film of Conflict & Resolution awarded to Bartek Konopka for “Rabbit a la Berlin”; Audience Award for Best Narrative Film awarded to Jean-Marc Vallee for “The Young Victoria”; Audience Award for Best Documentary awarded to Don Hahn for “Waking Sleeping Beauty”; Audience Award for Best Short awarded to Katie Wolfe for “This Is Her”; Kanbar Indie Award awarded to Antonio Campos for “My Adventures in Ladies’ Undergarments”; The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Prize awarded to Alejandro Amenabar for “Agora”; and RoC Skincare Gold Standard in Filmmaking Award for a female feature director awarded to Cheryl Hines for “Serious Moonlight.”

In addition, Sharon Stone was honored with the festival’s annual “Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award.”
