Emily Goldstein and Victoria Munroe have announced a transition at The Drawing Room and new directions for both founding partners.
Following the current Sasson Soffer exhibition, Goldstein will assume sole leadership of The Drawing Room at 55 Main Street in East Hampton. Building on the gallery's 20-year history as a destination for collectors, curators, art advisors and designers, the streamlined exhibition program will focus on artists who have contributed to the legendary cultural landscape of the East End. Influential figures from earlier generations will be spotlighted, as well as contemporary artists with active studio practices in the community today. Artists' studio visits will also be offered.
As principal of Emily Goldstein Curatorial Projects, Goldstein will continue her longstanding role as an advisor to private collectors and estates, consulting on acquisitions, sales and collection management.
In May, Munroe will open a branch of Victoria Munroe Fine Art, NY in Sag Harbor, a by-appointment showroom specializing in 18th to 20th century European works on paper. The focus will be drawings from the fields of natural history, design, architecture and the decorative arts.
Goldstein and Munroe will collaborate on future projects associated with Costantino Nivola (1911-1988), Ruth Nivola (1917-2008) and Saul Steinberg (1914-1999). For more information, visit drawingroom-gallery.com.
