On Friday, July 14, at 6 p.m., The Depot Art Gallery in Montauk will present a very special hour with chanteuse Nicole DeRosa Padden.

Padden is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, professional musician and music teacher. Born in Montauk, her original songs have ties to this magical community that encompasses love, romance and a beachy feel to all that she writes.

Along with singing, Padden also plays the flute and alto saxophone. She has a bachelor’s of music degree from Long Island University and a master’s of arts from the University at Buffalo. On June 23, 2016, Padden had the opportunity to record her demo at Cove City Sounds with saxophonist Richie Cannata. Cannata got his start as Billy Joel’s original saxophone player in the 1970s. Constantly surrounded by amazing musicians in the field, Padden is excited to continue performing live and writing and recording more original songs.

She is a third generation musician in her family. She is the granddaughter of the legendary saxophonist Pat A. DeRosa, who was a star in the big band era and played with legends like Lionel Hampton, Tommy Dorsey and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He also had the opportunity to play saxophone duets with John Coltrane. Padden’s mother, Patricia DeRosa Padden, is a piano player, singer/songwriter and professional musician.

Admission to the performance is free, with a $5 suggested donation. The Depot Art Gallery is located at the Montauk train station at Flamingo Avenue and South Edgemere Street in Montauk. Call 631-668-8052 for details.
