On Sunday, September 5, at 4 p.m., Opera & Broadway of the Hamptons and The Cristina Fontanelli Foundation present “From Opera to Broadway: Cristina Fontanelli and her Fabulous Friends,” at The Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton. In the great tradition of the last 30 years, Opera & Broadway of the Hamptons returns to the East End bringing the great “chestnuts” of opera and Broadway favorites. This annual concert highlights famous arias and duets from operas such as “La Boheme” and “Madame Butterfly” and favorite Broadway tunes from musicals like “West Side Story,” “Hamilton” and “My Fair Lady,” plus famous Neapolitan songs and Spanish favorites.
The event stars and is hosted by the award-winning soprano Cristina Fontanelli, host of the PBS program Andrea Bocelli “Live From Central Park,” who will perform alongside tenor Riad Ymeri and baritone Ricardo Rivera.
Fontanelli appears annually with Opera & Broadway of the Hamptons and last performed locally at Guild Hall with Opera of the Hamptons in the title role of “Madame Butterfly.” She has also opened the ceremonies at the Hampton Classic. Fontanelli, who sings in nine languages, performed at the Clinton White House and for the inauguration of President George W. Bush. She also received the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts from the Order Sons of Italy in America.
