Now through September 26, the Gardiner Mill Cottage Gallery in East Hampton Village is presenting “Our Long Island, 1870-1940,” an exhibition highlighting the work of important 19th century painters from the region.
Eastern Long Island has been the inspiration and destination for thousands of artists since the 1860s and this show features works by painters such as Thomas, Edward and Peter Moran, Bruce Crane, Edgar Taylor, Walter Granville-Smith, William Fitler, William J. Whittemore, Thomas Bangs Thorpe, Walter Cole Brigham, Eliot Candee Clark, Hugo Anton Fisher, Wm. Sylvester Eaton, Edward Lamson Henry, Hjalmar “Cappy” Amundsen, Caroline Stehlin and other important artists of the period.
