Pamella Allen Comes To Ma's House

Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio, an artist residency space created by Indigenous artist Jeremy Dennis on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation in Southampton, will welcome Pamella Allen, its third artist-in-residence, this week. On Friday, October 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., an informal meet-the-artist event will be held at Ma’s House.

Allen is a Jamaican-born, Brooklyn-based mixed-media painter, printmaker, sculptor and more.

“I cannot wait to see how the wisdom of the Shinnecock people and the natural landscapes they preserve will impact the works I will create in my residency and beyond,” Allen said. “Thank you Jeremy, the Shinnecock Nation, and Ancestor ‘Princess Silva Arrow’ — Loretta Silva also known as ‘Ma’ — for opening your home, heart, and wisdom to making a safe creative space for BIPOC artists to grow.”
