Suffolk Theater presents two powerhouse vocalists — Grammy nominees Paula Cole and Sophie B. Hawkins — in one incredible night on Sunday, November 6, at 7 p.m.
Paula Cole made her mark on the scene in 1996 when she released her double-platinum smash, self-produced second album “This Fire.” Nominated for seven Grammy Awards, Cole was the first woman to be nominated as Producer of the Year with no collaborators. With singles like “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?” and “I Don’t Want to Wait” dominating the charts as well as becoming the well-loved theme-song for hit television show “Dawson’s Creek,” Cole pushed boundaries and touched the hearts and minds of many with her songwriting. Now, 25 years later, Cole will perform songs from this ground-breaking album in a rare opportunity to witness her historical work.
Joining Cole in this unique double-bill is the incomparable Sophie B. Hawkins. Hawkins burst onto the international music scene with her 1992 platinum-selling debut album “Tongues and Tails” which included the legendary hit song “Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover,” and earned her a Best New Artist Grammy Award nomination. The last three decades have brought multiple awards and sold out concerts, appearances in film and television, a documentary feature, a critically-lauded tour-de-force performance as Janis Joplin in the nationally-touring play “Room 105” and five more albums — including “Whaler,” which featured the record-breaking longest-running single in Billboard Adult Contemporary chart history, “As I Lay Me Down.”
This performance is a rare opportunity for both new and returning fans to witness two powerhouse vocalists that have stood the test of time up close and personal, in one incredible night.
Tickets for Paula Cole and Sophie B. Hawkins are $55 or $69 at suffolktheater.com. The Suffolk is at 118 East Main Street in Riverhead.
