This spring, The Montauk Project, an original rock band hailing from the East End, is releasing new music. On Friday, April 8, at 8 p.m., a release party for their single “Bombshell” will be held at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett. The Montauk Project will also be performing at the Montauk Music Festival which takes place from May 19 to May 22, and The Great South Bay Music Festival on Thursday, July 7, and will be releasing singles at both of these festivals also.

Leading up to the live shows, The Montauk Project, consisting of Mark Schiavoni (vocals and guitar), Jasper Conroy (drums), Josh LeClerc (lead guitar), Leander Drake (bass), and Michael DiDonna (keyboards), will be featured on Heart of the East End with Gianna Volpe on WLIW FM on April 8, at 10:25 a.m.

The Montauk Project was formed in the early 2010s by musicians who primarily attended East Hampton High School or Ross School. In the years since, it has shared the stage with such artists as The Growlers, Robby Krieger (The Doors), The Marshall Tucker Band, Paul Simon, Donavon Frankenreiter, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Temples, White Denim, and Chad Smith (The Red Hot Chili Peppers). They have been a prominent fixture at the Montauk Music Festival for the last decade but have also graced the stage at showcases such as SXSW, CMJ, The Great South Bay Music Fest, KABOO, The Paramount, and Webster Hall.

This year finds The Project in the studio with renowned engineer and producer Oliver Straus (Arctic Monkeys, Taking Back Sunday, King Princess) working on their third studio album.
