The Church in Sag Harbor presents “Sunday With Simon” on Sunday, January 12, at noon. The renowned creative director Simon Doonan invites all to come enjoy memories, musings and mimosas as he sits down for a dynamic discussion.

Doonan will explore the stories and inspirations that added a dash of whimsy and nostalgia to The Church’s winter exhibition, “Some of Tom’s Typewriters.” Inspired by the presence of typewriters in films, moved by the serendipity of his parents meeting around the typewriter, and driven by his incredible knack for storytelling, Doonan adds a special dimension to the exhibition.

As a creative director, Doonan offers the audience an opportunity to peek into the inner creative workings of design as he discusses his initial sketches, the visual impact of added display elements and more. Following the discussion, Doonan will take part in a brief Q&A with the audience.

Those with specialty tickets will then be invited down to the studio level for mimosas and small bites. Copies of Doonan’s latest book, “The Camp 100 — Glorious Flamboyance, From Louis XIV to Lil Nas X” will be available for purchase and signed during the reception downstairs.

A longstanding member of the fashion community, Doonan was awarded the prestigious CFDA award for his design work as creative director for Barneys New York. A BBC TV comedy series based on his autobiography “Beautiful People” aired around the world. He is a regular guest at “The Moth,” the well-known storytelling series, and a season regular on the Emmy-nominated NBC competition series “Making It” starring Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. Doonan is the author of many books, including biographies of Keith Haring and Lou Reed, and “DRAG, The Complete Story.” He lives in the U.S. with his partner, the ceramicist and designer Jonathan Adler, and their rescue mutt, Foxylady.

Tickets for the “Sunday With Simon” talk are $25 ($20 members) and for the talk and reception, $35 ($25 members) at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is at 48 Madison Street in Sag Harbor.
