In recent weeks, Hamptons DocFest founder/executive director Jacqui Lofaro has been adding a new “Fest Favorite” documentary to its website every Wednesday as a treat for all to enjoy in these viral times.
The newest film to join the line-up on Wednesday, May 13, is “Spielberg” (2017, 147 min.), a masterful documentary by Susan Lacy of Sag Harbor, about the life and five-decade career of director (and East Hampton resident) Steven Spielberg.
The documentary was the Friday Night Spotlight Film at the Hamptons DocFest in December 2017, and the website will also include the Q&A that was held at the time with Lacy.
Outstanding documentaries that have been offered on previous Wednesdays and are still available through the website, along with Q&As from the directors’ appearances at the film festival in previous years, are: “Penny and Red: The Life of Secretariat’s Owner,” “Terrence McNally: Every Act of Life,” “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am,” “In Search of Israeli Cuisine,” “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise,” “The Biggest Little Farm,” “Three Identical Strangers,” and “The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution.”
Anyone wishing to receive the weekly Wednesday email blast about each week’s added film can send their name and email address to info@hamptonsdocfest.com via the hamptonsdocfest.com website.
