The Hamptons Festival of Music (TH·FM) is expanding its community outreach programming this season, offering a diverse mix of events for all ages that are either free or easily affordable.

On Saturday, April 27, TH·FM presents a special concert at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton featuring cellist and visual artist Amy Kang. This benefit event will include an immersive performance of J.S. Bach’s “Suite No. 1 in G major for Solo Cello,” which directly inspired Kang’s Bach Project visual art series, with a selection of her works on display in a “pop-up” gallery in the LongHouse Pavilion.

“The paintings in this series are inspired by the music of J.S. Bach,” Kang explained. “Each stroke represents a note. Elements of harmony inform the color palette selected. The image displays a visual illustration of harmonic motifs inherent in the music.”

The program will also feature a special piece by Imogen Holst, “The Fall of the Leaf,” in celebration of Arbor Day. Proceeds from this event will support TH·FM’s community outreach initiatives, which provide high-quality arts and cultural education to young people attending local schools.

From Thursday, May 30, to Sunday, June 2, TH·FM’s Salon Orchestra takes center stage with a multi-faceted program. TH·FM’s associate conductor Logan Souther and award-winning soprano Greer Lyle will present free educational concert, :short programs to introduce students to the magic of classical music, with stops at East Hampton High School, Springs School, Project MOST and the Eleanor Whitmore Early Child Center.

Souther and Lyle, joined by eight talented musicians from TH·FM’s Salon Orchestra, will offer community performances — intimate concerts at Springs Community Presbyterian Church, Montauk Community Church and a soon-to-be-announced East Hampton venue. Tickets for these performances are $25.

“We are passionate about fostering a love of music in our community,” says Souther. “These initiatives offer something for everyone, from educational experiences for young minds to captivating performances for music lovers of all ages.”

TH·FM’s third season of full orchestra concerts under the baton of renowned conductor Maestro Michael Palmer, featuring The New American Sinfonietta, will be offered September 6, 10 and 14 at LTV Studios in Waisncott. Program details and tickets for all events are available at thehamptonsfestivalofmusic.com.
