Women’s Art Center of the Hamptons (WACH) in Bridgehampton will host a trio of December workshops to celebrate the season and inspire creativity, cultivate joy, and promote togetherness.
The first, a Japanese Folding and Dye Workshop on Sunday, December 1, from 2 to 4 p.m., will introduce participants to the centuries-old technique of shibori. This resist-dyeing method is similar to batik and tie dye and involves folding, clamping, or twisting textile or paper to create stunning patterns. This class will inspire participants to experiment with color and pattern both at WACH and at home. The cost is $25, all materials included and the workshop is for adults and children over 12 (must be accompanied by an adult). Tickets available at wachamptonsny.org.
On Sunday, December 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., make a keepsake Victorian ornament with WACH director Wendy Van Deusen. In this Holiday Heirloom Ornament Workshop, participants will craft Victorian-style ornaments by decorating blown eggs with antique ribbons, trims and other materials, transforming them into cherished keepsakes to treasure for years to come. The cost is $30, all materials included and the workshop is for adults and children over 12 (must be accompanied by an adult). Tickets available at wachamptonsny.org.
Finally, on Sunday, December 15, from 1 to 5 p.m., WACH will host a free Holiday (W)rap Session. Guests are invited to come and wrap their gifts with other members of the community. Chat with other guests and enjoy refreshments to celebrate the season. Bring your own gifts and wrapping paper; WACH will supply a beautiful assortment of ribbons and bows to add the perfect finishing touch. Guests without gifts to wrap are also welcome to drop in; bring a craft project, read a book or just enjoy good company and refreshments. The session is free, but RSVPs are appreciated to info@wachamptonsny.org.
