Time Again for the January Girls

authorStaff Writer on Dec 29, 2024

Each Sunday in January, The Neo-Political Cowgirls will present January Girls, a variety of creative workshops designed to bring multigenerational women and girls together to create art, to create space and to create community.

This year’s theme will be “Journey to a New Horizon” and workshop leaders will take participants on a creative and co-creative journey through the course of the afternoon. Beginning with centering and connection and concluding with reflection, these workshops are designed to utilize the arts as tools to cultivate community.

Veronica Mezzina, textile artist and painter, will kick off the series on January 5, followed by Melora Griffis, a painter, writer and performer on January 12. On January 19, painter and sculptor Ellen Colcord will lead, and feminist visual artist and curator Yohanna M. Roa will be the teaching artist on January 26.

Workshops take place Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. on January 5, 12, 19 and 26 at the Springs Presbyterian Church, 5 Old Stone Highway, East Hampton. Please RSVP to info@npcowgirls.org. These workshops are free. Girls and women of all ages are encouraged to attend and bring a neighbor, an elderly friend, or someone new to the community.
