Legendary stage and screen actress Dame Julie Andrews and her daughter, Bay Street Theater cofounder Emma Walton Hamilton, have signed on to join Bay Street’s upcoming “Story Time,” a new series of eight children’s books read aloud on Zoom by the authors themselves.

Together, Andrews and Hamilton have co-authored over 30 books for children and adults, nine of which have been on the New York Times best-seller list, including “The Very Fairy Princess” series, “Julie Andrews’ Collection Of Poems, Songs And Lullabies,” “Julie Andrews’ Treasury: Poems and Songs to Celebrate the Seasons,” the “Dumpy The Dump Truck” series, “The Great American Mousical,” and most recently, Andrews’s second memoir “Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years.” They will read from their book “Simeon’s Gift” on May 15.

Offered every Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., “Story Time” at Bay Street begins on March 27, with husband and wife illustrator and author Jim and Kate McMullan reading from their books “Happy Spring,” “I Stink” and “I’m Dirty.” Kate McMullan is a New York-based author with more than 100 children’s book titles published. Her husband, Jim McMullan, is perhaps best known for the posters he has created for Lincoln Center Theater, including “Anything Goes,” “Carousel,” “South Pacific,” ”The King and I” and “My Fair Lady.”

The next offering in the series, on Saturday, April 3, will be Theresa Trinder reading her book “There Is A Rainbow,” published by Chronicle Books. In a previous life, Trinder made books and gifts for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri, literacy curricula in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and all sorts of things in between. She earned an MFA in poetry from Emerson College. She is a Long Island resident and cares for her two boys full-time.

Other authors in the weekly series, will include Theresa Trinder reading “There Is A Rainbow” on April 3; Dan Sadlowski reading “Finding Brooklyn — And The Next Great Superhero” on April 10; Hyewon Yum reading “Grandpa Across The Ocean” on April 17; Susan Verde reading “I Am Yoga” on April 24; Linsey Davis reading “Stay This Way Forever” on May 1; Scott Rothman reading “Attack of the Underwear Dragon” on May 8; and finally, Andrews and Hamilton with “Simeon’s Gift” on May 15.

Parents are encouraged to purchase the books so their child can read along with the authors. The series is designed for kids ages 3 to 8 and following each reading, authors will be available for a question-and-answer session with participants. The “Story Time” series can be purchased as a package for $100, or $15 for individual tickets. Visit baystreet.org or call the box office, 631-725-9500 to purchase.
