Join Long Island Music Hall of Famer and founding member of the Brooklyn Bridge Tommy Sullivan at the East Hampton Library on July 13, at 2 p.m. for “America’s answer to the Beatles.” In 1964, the Beatles exploded on the American music scene and quickly eclipsed most homegrown groups — with notable exceptions. The performance will center on the stellar artistry and success of American groups like the Beach Boys, Rascals, 4 Seasons and Motown, who more than kept pace with the Fab Four.
Having shared concert and TV stages with these groups in the late 1960s, Sullivan’s personal connection to these truly magical musicians gave him great insight.
This performance will also feature “honorable mention” tunes by the Mamas and the Papas, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan and more. And, of course, Sullivan will kick off the show with a rousing Beatles medley.
Admission is free. East Hampton Library is at 159 Main Street in East Hampton. For more information, visit easthamptonlibrary.org or call 631-324-0222.
