Note: This event at John Jermain Memorial Library has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 12, at 2 p.m.

With her latest book, “Walking on Air: Embracing the Uncertainties of Life,” psychotherapist Susan Powers has a simple answer: “Throw Love at It.” Dr. Powers weaves her personal story of traumatic loss with practical tips of how she has learned to “throw love at” her biggest challenges in life, including addiction (her own and close family), grieving (her daughter and husband’s deaths just three months apart), divorce, illness (including her father’s Alzheimer’s disease) and becoming an elder. Walking on air is living by discovery and spontaneity and having the courage to trust in your journey.

On Sunday, September 17, at 2 p.m., Dr. Powers will present a reading from “Walking on Air” at the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor.

Dr. Power’s first book, “Ruthless Grieving, The Journey to Acceptance and Beyond,” has helped many readers recover from traumatic loss. “Walking on Air, Embracing the Uncertainties of Life,” takes readers beyond acceptance to the methods she has found to living a full, rich life. Walking on air is going beyond our linear thinking and embracing the transformative potential of life’s dark side.

Susan Carroll Powers, Ph.D, is a clinical psychologist who has been in private practice for more than 40 years in New York City and on the East End.
