The Hampton Bays Historical & Preservation Society was founded in 1994 to preserve, document and educate the local community on local history. The Society maintains a collection of family records, genealogies, oral histories and interesting artifacts that have been preserved for historians and future generations. It is also steward of several restored historic properties: the Prosper King House, the Lyzon Hat Museum, the Canoe Place Chapel and three Southampton Town-owned cemeteries.

The Montauk Historical Society is a privately funded, non-profit organization. Our purpose is to collect, restore, preserve and display historically significant buildings, objects, and writings, and to preserve the history and cultures of Montauk and the East End for this and future generations. Over the years since its founding in 1962, MHS has grown and flourished. Currently, our historical society oversees four properties: the Montauk Point Lighthouse, the Second House Museum, the Indian Museum and the Carl Fisher House.

The Quogue Historical Society was founded in 1947 as the Historical Committee of the Quogue Library. In 1948, the Post Family donated Quogue’s first schoolhouse, built in 1822, to the Library to be operated as a museum by the Historical Committee. It was moved to its current location behind the Library from the Posts’ property on Quogue Street and, in 1949, opened as a museum. In 1977, the Quogue Historical Society was chartered by New York State.

The Greater Westhampton Historical Museum serves the communities of Westhampton, Westhampton Beach, Westhampton Dunes, Quiogue, Remsenburg, Speonk, and Eastport. The mission is to preserve and promote the history of these communities and to serve as a community resource for historical information.
