SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — Police arrested 23-year-old Amar Gardner of Southampton and charged him with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor, on January 23 after he was pulled over on Somerset Avenue for a traffic violation and it was discovered that the license plates on his 2006 Chrysler 300 had been stolen from another vehicle, according to police. Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of January 30

Lucia Macario-Morales, 38, of Westhampton was arrested by Southampton Town Police at about 11:15 p.m. on January 24 and charged with felony aggravated DWI after being pulled over on County Road 39 for, police said, driving erratically and failing to stop at a stop sign. A check of DMV records revealed that her driver’s license was suspended and that she was required to have an interlock device installed on her vehicle. Manuel Fernando Chuya, 52, of East Hampton was charged with misdemeanor DWI by East Hampton Village Police after a traffic stop on Montauk Highway in the village a little after midnight on Sunday. Police said Fernando Chuya was driving a 2010 GMC Sierra at the time and was swerving badly across lane lines. Fernando Chuya appeared intoxicated, the arresting officer reported, and failed roadside sobriety tests, leading to his arrest. WAINSCOTT — A Hampton Bays man, Joseph A. Pita, 53, was charged by East Hampton Town Police with assault in the third-degree, a misdemeanor, last Thursday morning, after an altercation at an industrial worksite in Wainscott. Police said Pita punched a fellow worker in the face, knocking a tooth loose and causing cutting, bleeding and bruising to the victim, leading to the arrest. East Hampton Village Tightens Noise Regulations

The East Hampton Village Board closed a hearing and later passed a resolution to amend the code pertaining to noise when it met on Friday, January 24. The hearing, which was held open at its December 18, 2024, meeting, pertained to regulating the dates and times that construction, excavation, demolition, exterior repair or alteration work can be done.
