106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Getting New 'More Survivable' Choppers

Airmen in the 106th Air Rescue Wing getting their first look at the new "Joly Green II" helicopter the unit received last week. The chopper is the first of six of the new choppers the group will be sent over the next year, replacing the Pave Hawk helicopters the group has been using since 1990.

Woman Seriously Injured in Springs Car Crash

An East Hampton woman was seriously injured in a single-car crash early Thursday morning, East Hampton Town Police said. The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. on Three Mile Harbor-Hog Creek Road. Police say that an SUV driven by Judith Santiago-Martinez, 27, apparently swerved off the roadway and struck a tree. The crash was reported by a nearby resident who heard the crash. Police said that Santiago-Martinez was cut from the car and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
