The East Hampton boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Division Championships at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park on October 24.
The boys, by tying for second place with Westhampton Beach in League V with 4-2 records, were allowed to compete in the Division III Championship race. Wyatt Smith, a junior, placed 16th in the division in 18:40.30, senior Brayan Rivera placed 18th in 18:53.80, junior Benson Edman finished 19th in 19:04.41, freshman Hudson Goulart finished 24th in 19:14.50 and sophomore Harrison Jenkins rounded out Bonac’s top five finishers by finishing 30th in 19:59.40.
After placing third in League V with a 3-2 record, East Hampton’s girls cross country team competed in the team qualifier race at Divisions last week. Seniors Ryleigh O’Donnell (21:25.10) and Dylan Cashin (21:52) and freshman Laura Martinez (21:56.70) finished fifth through seventh, respectively. Senior Natalie Reininger (24:14.60) and junior Zion Osei (24.18.30) finished up the top five of the Bonac girls’ finishers. The girls qualified to compete at the state qualifier which is this Friday, November 3, back at Sunken Meadow. Cashin, O’Donnell and Martinez each earned All-League honors.
Both East Hampton squads will be back at the Section XI Championships, also known as the state qualifier, this Friday, November 3, back at Sunken Meadow.
