About a year ago, Bruce Stafford Jr. packed up everything he owned, got on a plane and went to race motorcycles in one of the most competitive road racing circuits in the world, in Spain. With East End schools ready to open their doors for another year, those dreading the return of classes were able to see some of their frustrations taken out at Riverhead Raceway on Saturday night. As part of the “I Love America Night” festivities at the Raceway, the school bus demolition derby ended what seemed to be a fine night of family entertainment.

In many ways, Davis Eames is the picture of the average “tween” girl—her lanky legs are adorned with multiple handmade ankle bracelets, she flips her hair back with a standard teenage flourish, and skips around her yard on bare feet. The departure from the norm begins, however, with looks inside the Eames family’s garage and around the yard, which have become home to no less than five four-wheel all-terrain vehicles, known as quads.
