Christopher T. Schiaffino Sr.
Christopher Taaffe Schiaffino Sr. of East Hampton died on Friday, May 6. He was 35.
Mr. Schiaffino, son, father and friend, was born to Fred and Maureen Schiaffino on June 23, 1975, in Staten Island. While growing up, he excelled in many things, particularly in athletics. He pitched his high school team—the Tottenville Pirates—to the city championship. He later attended Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Upon his return from college, Mr. Schiaffino moved to East Hampton to work with his father’s landscape business. Over the past 15 years, he and his partners built Tri-R Services into a formidable landscaping force on the East End.
He was a devoted father to his two sons, Christopher Jr. and Daniel. He treasured his time with his family and friends, often traveling to New York City to spend holidays with his mom or to take in a Yankees game, survivors said. He loved everything sports and outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and loved to play golf. He also loved the Yankees, Celtics and Giants. His athletic talents in adulthood were in high demand as well. He was the starting shortstop for Ocean Aire Nurseries, La Superica and Sag Harbor Liquors where he led his teams to countless championships.
He will live forever in the hearts of all of his friends and family, survivors said.
Mr. Schiaffino is survived by his mother Maureen and her companion, Charles Milano; father Fred; sons, Christopher Jr. and Daniel Schiaffino; grandfather, John Taaffe; siblings, John, Lori Schiaffino and Kathy Trant; nieces and nephews, Nicole Harimut, Matthew Schiaffino and Jessica, Daniel and Alex Trant; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
