Rene Patricio Yanza Garcia, 24, a resident of the North Sea area of Southampton, was charged by East Hampton Village Police with misdemeanor DWI a little after midnight on Sunday following a traffic stop on Montauk Highway near Danie’s Hole Road. Police said the stop was made because Yanza Garcia, driving west in a 2023 Honda Civic, was driving 70 mph where the limit is 40. He appeared intoxicated, the arresting officer reported, and failed sobriety tests, after which he was placed under arrest. Cesar A. Martinez, 65, of Springs was charged with misdemeanor DWI after an accident that occurred on Three Mile Harbor Hog Creek Road near Fort Pond Boulevard the afternoon of March 5. Police said Martinez lost control of the 2000 Jeep he was driving, going off road and crashing into a utility pole.
