Francisco E. Chacho Corte, 41, of Springs was arrested by East Hampton Town Police at around 9 on Sunday morning and charged with misdemeanor aggravated DWI. Police said Chacho Corte was driving north on Springs Fireplace Road in an erratic manner, forcing other drivers to pull off the road, leading to a traffic stop. The arresting officer reported that Chacho Corte appeared intoxicated and failed roadside sobriety tests, leading to his arrest. A DWI charge rises from a misdemeanor to a felony when the defendant has a prior conviction of DWI within the past 10 years. Scott J. McGinniss, 36, of East Hampton, was charged by East Hampton Town Police with misdemeanor DWI the evening of October 9 after crashing into a telephone pole on Route 114 near Montauk Boulevard, according to police. McGinniss was driving a 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck when he lost control of his vehicle, crashing into the pole.
