The East Hampton Town Board voted unanimously on Tuesday, November 19, to adopt the Fiscal Year 2025 budget. The budget, which will pierce the state-imposed 2 percent cap on tax levy increases, takes effect on January 1, 2025. The vote followed a November 7 public hearing, which drew no comment. A public hearing on East Hampton Town’s fiscal year 2025 budget drew no comment last Thursday, November 7, and later in the meeting, the Town Board voted to override the 2 percent tax levy cap. The board is expected to vote to authorize the $103,925,137 budget on November 19, one day ahead of the state-imposed deadline. In its tentative form, the budget had a proposed spending total of $103,722,303. After three work session presentations in October, the agreed-upon preliminary budget adds an additional $202,834.
